چکیده
This paper studies the bifurcation paths exhibited by a simple second-order dc/dc boost converter under currentprogrammed control with and without voltage feedback. Previous work in this area has reported two distinct types of bifurcation paths, namely via regions of quasi-periodic orbits and perioddoubling. This paper demonstrates that the two different types of bifurcation paths can, in fact, be viewed as part of another bifurcation in which the quasi-periodic sequence transmutes into the period-doubling sequence, and that such a bifurcation is observed regardless of the presence of the outer voltage feedback loop as long as a suitable set of bifurcation parameters is chosen. The describing iterative map is derived in closed form and is used to develop the main results via a series of computer experiments. The characteristic multipliers are calculated and the first onset of flip-bifurcation is predicted. Computer simulation based on an exact piecewise switched model confirms the predicted bifurcations. The exhibition of quasi-periodic orbits is confirmed by computation of the Lyapunov exponent. Finally, a series of return maps are generated to provide an alternative viewpoint to the reported bifurcations in terms of a transmutation from a tent-like map to a logistic-like map.

Bifurcations in current-programmed DC/DC buck switching regulators - conjecturing a universal bifurcation path
This paper studies the bifurcation paths exhibited by a DC=DC buck switching regulator under current-programmed control. Previous studies with the boost converter and the Cuk converter have shown that two distinct types of bifurcation paths, namely one that goes through a region of quasi-periodic orbits and via period-doubling, are possible. We conjecture that these two di erent types of bifurc...
متن کاملBifurcations in Two-dimensional Piecewise Smooth Maps | Theory and Applications in Switching Circuits
Recent investigations on the bifurcation behavior of power electronic dc-dc converters has revealed that most of the observed bifurcations do not belong to generic classes like saddle-node, period doubling or Hopf bifurcations. Since these systems yield piecewise smooth maps under stroboscopic sampling, a new class of bifurcations occur in such systems when a xed point crosses the \border" betw...
متن کاملTwo-Dimensional bifurcation Diagrams: Background Pattern of Fundamental Dc-dc converters with PWM Control
One of the usual ways to build up mathematical models corresponding to a wide class of DC–DC converters is by means of piecewise linear differential equations. These models belong to a class of dynamical systems called Variable Structure Systems (VSS). From a classical design point of view, it is of interest to know the dynamical behavior of the system when some parameters are varied. Usually, ...

In this paper a repetitive control (RC) approach to improve current sharing between parallel-connected boost converters in DC microgrids is presented. The impact of changes in line impedance on current sharing is investigated. A repetitive controller is designed and connected in series with current controller of the boost converters to control the switching signals such that by regulating of th...

In this paper, a new structure for buck-boost Z-source converter based on Z-H topology is proposed. The proposed converter consists of two LC networks similar to the conventional Z-source and Z-H converters. One of the characteristics of the proposed structure is that, without any changing in its’ power circuit, it can be used in different conversions such as dc/dc, dc/ac and ac/ac. This unique...
